Grounded for Now

This was a project to illustrate a scene from the story "The Happy Prince". I couldn't help thinking of the sparrow as a hardworking teenage girl and the statue as the rusty old monument for a fallen dictator. So I just went with a dystopian theme! Here we see our friend harvesting the metal from the statue to help her family in lieu of playing hover ball with her friends.

Hopefully the colors jive... I worked really hard on them!
